Victoria and I did our first Colorado 14er – an easier one only an hour from Denver. Mount Bierstadt stands at 14,060 feet tall. We started and ended up at theĀ Guanella Pass Trailhead. The 7.3 out and back took us 5.5 hours including an hour and forty minutes of rest time. It was about 30 degrees out with winds 20-30 miles per hour. We had snow on the summit and during our descent too.

For our 26th state high point, we completed Humprehys Peak in Arizona which is 12,633 feet tall. We had planned on doing New Mexico and Oklahoma on the way to Colorado, but I tweaked my ankle again as we were coming down. We started at the snow bowl and followed the Humphreys Peak Trail to the summit. Somewhat windy and chilly, but otherwise perfect weather.
