On the first (second?) day of our road trip, Victoria and I visited my Opa, then summited High Point, which is the name of New Jersey’s high point, and our ninth state high point. It stands at 1,803 feet and is topped by a memorial tower which was closed for the season. The 4.2 mile round trip took two hours, including 20 minutes of rest time. After parking on the side of Mountain Road, we took the AT and then a spur trail to the summit. Yes it was humid, and yes I was sweating.

After taking a water bottle shower, we drove to a rest stop on the side of I-76 about an hour from Pennsylvania’s high point. We slept there, in the back of our car, somewhat awkwardly in the glow of the parking lot lights.
