Mount Frissell is located in the tri-state area of Connecticut, Massachusetts, and New York. It peaks in Massachusetts at 2,653ft. Connecticut’s highest point is located on Mt. Frissell’s southern slope at 2,380ft. If you head west down the Mount Frissell Trail about a 1/10 of a mile or so you hit the tri-state border. On August 26, 2012, Greg, Matt, Nate, and Victoria all summited Mt. Frissell, Connecticut’s high point, and the tri-state border marker on August 26, 2012. We started east of Mt. Frissell took the Mount Frissell Trail up and down (3.0mi rt, 1000ft elevation gain).

Mount Washington is America’s tallest mountain east of the Mississippi and north of the Carolinas and the highest point in New Hampshire. It stands at 6,288ft tall (1,917m). Until 2010, it held the record for the highest wind gust measured on Earth’s surface (231mph). Greg, John, Kristen, Matt, Meryl, Nate, and Victoria all summited on August 4, 2012. We started out at Pinkham Notch Visitor Center, followed Lion Head Trail to the summit, and descended via Tuckerman Ravine Trail (8.4mi rt, 4,300ft elevation gain).
